Many people with Asperger’s syndrome want to be sociable but have difficulty with initiating and sustaining social relationships which can make them very anxious and can lead to isolation and loneliness.
Carers Trust 4all provides social skills groups for adults with Asperger’s to enable them to improve their social skills and meet others with similar difficulties and strengths.
The groups are managed by Carers Trust 4all, with individual group sessions facilitated by a qualified Speech and Language Therapist.
The benefits of this service are not only to improve the social skills, confidence and independence of the adults attending, but also to offer essential breaks to families and carers.
Along with teaching comes the need for practice – and here’s where regular attendance at a social skills group may come in handy.
